ADHD Support & Assessment
ADHD can look different in every person — from difficulty with focus, organisation and follow-through, to restlessness, impulsivity, or a mind that’s constantly moving between ideas. Whether you’re exploring an assessment for the first time or looking for ongoing support after a diagnosis, our team is here to help you understand how your brain works and find strategies that genuinely fit your life.
Who We Support
We work with children, teens and adults. For children, ADHD assessment is generally offered from around five years of age, though concerns can be explored earlier and may lead to a preliminary understanding of what’s going on. If your child is having difficulty with concentration, inattention or hyperactivity at home, daycare or school, an assessment can help build the right scaffolding and support around them — at home and in the classroom.
For adults, ADHD often shows up as difficulty managing time, staying organised, following through on tasks, or feeling restless and easily overwhelmed. Many adults come to us after years of wondering why certain things feel harder than they should — an assessment can offer real clarity.
ADHD Assessment
Our ADHD assessments focus on diagnosing ADHD and typically include an evaluation of general intellectual ability alongside an assessment of executive functioning — planning, organisation, working memory and impulse control. This gives a fuller picture of your (or your child’s) cognitive strengths and challenges, along with practical recommendations for school, work or home.
We take a neuro-affirming approach throughout. The goal isn’t to “fix” anyone — it’s to understand how your brain works and find strategies that genuinely help. Please note an assessment is an evaluation, not a diagnosis in itself; a psychiatrist is the one who formally diagnoses ADHD, and we work alongside GPs and psychiatrists as part of that process.
Ongoing Support
Whether or not you’ve had a formal assessment, our psychologists can work with you to build a personalised plan for managing ADHD day to day — combining practical strategies with therapeutic approaches like CBT to support focus, emotional regulation and self-esteem. This can follow on from an assessment, or start on its own if you already have a diagnosis and are looking for support.
Frequently Asked Questions
What age can a child be assessed for ADHD?
Assessments are generally designed for children aged five and older, though we can explore concerns earlier — this may lead to a preliminary understanding rather than a full diagnostic picture at a very young age.
Does an assessment give a diagnosis?
An assessment is an evaluation, not a diagnosis in itself. A psychiatrist formally diagnoses ADHD — our assessment provides the detailed clinical picture that supports that process, along with practical recommendations either way.
Do I need an assessment before starting therapy for ADHD?
No — you’re welcome to start therapy for ADHD strategies and support with or without a formal assessment, depending on what feels right for you.
How much does an ADHD assessment cost?
Assessment fees vary depending on individual needs and the type of assessment required. We offer a free intake call so we can talk through your situation, explain the options, and give you clear, accurate pricing before you commit to anything.
